Large-Scale Nature Wallcoverings Bring Biophilic Design to the Workplace
We spend most of our days bringing calming nature images into healthcare environments. Hospitals, clinics, cancer centers… all of these places benefit significantly from making nature part of the overall interior design. Research shows us that we’re connected to nature through our DNA, and when we’re stressed, afraid, or in pain, our brain actually searches for pieces of the natural world to bring a sense of calm and facilitate healing.
But hospitals aren’t the only places where people spend long, demanding hours indoors. Whether we like it or not, a big part of modern life happens inside buildings.
And in the same way that nature art can transform healthcare spaces from clinical to inspiring, corporate offices (heck, any kind of space) can benefit too!

We recently had the opportunity to create a series of large-scale nature wallcoverings for a corporate office that provides software to healthcare environments. The goal was to create an uplifting environment for staff that encourages focus, creativity, and calm throughout the workday.
By using large-scale images of local landscapes throughout the space, the walls went from blank canvases to windows to the outdoors.

Turning Hallways into Nature Walks
Instead of blank and neutral office walls, employees now walk through spaces filled with calming natural scenes like fields stretching to the horizon, golden grasses glowing at sunset, mountain ranges rising in the distance, and soft sunlight filtering through trees.
These installations were printed on vinyl wallcoverings by Koroseal, a popular material used for large-scale environmental graphics in biophilic interior design. For this space, the size of the images was able to span entire corridors and large walls visible throughout multiple areas of the office.
When nature is presented at this scale, it becomes immersive.
It allows your brain to stop seeing the images as mere decoration and instead experience them more like being outdoors. As you can imagine, that’s a powerful thing.

Nature at Work (Literally)
Research continues to show that exposure to nature imagery can help:
- Reduce stress
- Improve focus and concentration
- Support creativity and problem-solving
- Create a calmer emotional atmosphere
In healthcare, these effects can support healing and recovery. In corporate environments, they support well-being, productivity, and mental clarity.
So, when a company chooses to invest in an environment like this, it says something important.
It says they care about the experience of the people who spend their days there. And imagine feeling the intention behind that as someone who works in that space. That’s pretty meaningful.

Local Landscapes Make It Personal
One of the most special parts of this project was the choice to feature local landscapes. Instead of using generic stock imagery, the scenes reflect the surrounding region: farmland, open skies, and natural areas familiar to the people who live and work there.
Research also suggests that natural scenes familiar to the people viewing them create stronger emotional connections and can enhance the calming, restorative benefits.

Yes… The Images Really Are That Big
If you’re wondering how images can be printed this large and still look crisp…That’s one of our favorite parts of the story.
Kurt Johnson and Jerred Zegelis, KJP’s traveling nature photographers, are both unapologetic gearheads. What does that mean for you? We invest in the most advanced camera technology so our images can scale to extraordinary sizes without losing clarity or detail.
Having the most up-to-date equipment allows us to create images with incredible resolution and striking dynamic range, resulting in clear, detailed, and vibrant images.
Because when you’re printing images that span an entire corridor or fill a large entryway, you need big files that will go the distance (pun intended).
The result is immersive – the kind of art you can walk beside for 40 feet and still notice new textures, colors, and light.

Nature Belongs Everywhere People Work
While healthcare projects will always be a big part of what we do, projects like this remind us that every indoor environment benefits from a connection to nature.
Offices. Corporate headquarters. Schools. Community buildings. Anywhere people spend long hours indoors deserves a little more sky, sunlight, and open landscape.
And when those scenes stretch across entire walls? Even better. We are 100% here for it.
