Did you know sand could be this beautiful?

Sometimes I’m surprised by what I find when I’m out capturing images for healthcare environments, hospitals and hospitality.  These examples were simply found while walking on a beach – the dark and white sand mixing together to create fascinating, interesting forms and shapes.

This was a whole hospital custom project. We/they went up several times to get very specific indigenous photography and local hot spots. For this project we did gallery wrapped images, framed art, and glass boards in patient rooms.

The above image, for instance, is something that has fascinated me.  The random grains of sand, existing for who knows how long, have randomly come together at my feet to create this special, magical image.  Bird feathers?  Waves from above?  The imagination runs wild.

I hope that those viewing my images in hospitals and other settings can find peace and a moment of calmness.  Evidence-based design tells us that natural images can help heal, and I believe these images are ones that would bring a moment of reflection and beauty to those viewing them.
